The Sports Bra Project celebrated International Women's Day this year with the announcement of a new partnership with Women Sport Australia

"This partnership is the perfect example of the power and connection of a global network of organizations and people committed to making sports accessible for girls and women. After The Sports Bra Project was first featured in The Guardian in 2020 interest from Australia was immediate.

"While it has taken time to get all of the pieces to come together, we are excited to finally be able to announce what we have been working on and thrilled to be able to support more athletes and grow the project in Australia! A sincere thank you to everyone whose work made this possible. Sports are truly universal." -Sarah Dwyer-Shick, Founder The Sports Bra Project

The Sports Bra Project increases access to sports for women and girls by removing barriers to participation. They provide sports bras to athletes who don’t have access to such a basic piece of equipment. The organization was founded in America, with roots in Africa, and is now in Australia. They have donated sports bras to 26 countries, supported 55 organizations, and have donated over 7,000 sports bras.

Women Sport Australia is a volunteer, non-profit organization that advocates for women in sport, and is dedicated to making sport equitable for all.

Together, The Sports Bra Project and Women Sport Australia plan to source local bras that can be provided to local communities, particularly remote Indigenous communities in the Norther Territory and also those affected by the floods in Queensland and New South Wales. (Source: The Guardian)
